HAZELWOOD, Mo. – The Hazelwood Police Department first turned to the public for help on Nov. 1 when Clifton Miller, an 85-year-old resident with early signs of dementia, went missing.

Despite exhaustive searches, Miller has yet to be found. He was last seen at his home on Georgetown Drive in Hazelwood.

“The holidays are coming up, and he is greatly missed,” said Cedric Miller, the missing man’s son. “We would appreciate any information that could help us further this investigation.”

The last time Cedric spoke to his father was on Halloween.

“We talked and laughed that evening and watched television, and when I left, I kissed him on the forehead and told him I’ll see him tomorrow,” Cedric said.

Even though his father showed early signs of dementia, Cedric does not believe his father just walked away.  He described his dad as a homebody who dislikes crowds and cold weather.

“He was very comfortable at home,” Cedric said. “I don’t believe he would just walk away.”

He said neighborhood doorbell camera footage did not yield any leads and credited the police for conducting exhaustive searches.

“They had dogs; they had drones; they had search parties,” he said. “It’s really difficult to believe with all of that effort that no one could find a trace of him.”

Police said Miller does not have a cell phone, making efforts to find him even more challenging.  Investigators share Cedric’s belief that Miller did not walk away. They suspect he left his house in a car.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hazelwood Police Department at 314-838-5000.

Cedric recently ordered custom couch cushions, featuring his father’s image.

“I had these made so I could just have him closer to me,” he said.

He’s holding on to hope he’ll be able to see his dad again someday.

“I’m still believing and praying that he’ll come home,” Cedric said. “It has really been devastating since he’s been gone.”
