New South Wales Police say ten people were killed, including one gunman, in a shooting attack in Australia's iconic Bondi Beach on Sunday. Police say the other suspected gunman is in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses say they saw over a dozen people lying on the ground with blood everywhere and also reported saying dozens of people who had suffered injuries in the attack.
Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese took to X to share a written statement, where he expressed his thoughts and condolences with the victims, and urged members of the public to heed police instructions and exercise caution.

“The scenes in Bondi are shocking and distressing. Police and emergency responders are on the ground working to save lives. My thoughts are with every person affected,” wrote Albanese.
“We are working with NSW Police and will provide further updates as more information is confirmed. I urge people in the vicinity to follow information from NSW Police,” he added.
NSW Police issued a warning on their X profile at around 7:30 pm local time, urging people to take shelter or avoid Bondi Beach altogether after they were alerted to a possible shooting incident.
Videos circulating on X and other social media platforms showed crowds of people scattering as multiple gunshots and police sirens sounded in the background.
A Hanukkah event was taking place at the famed beach where around 2,000 people showed up to participate, but it remains unclear whether the attack deliberately targeted the group. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motives behind the incident.

More than 50 shots were reportedly fired at beach-goers, civilians and vehicles, according to eyewitnesses.
