Portage County sheriff declares Level 1 snow emergency Dec. 13

The Portage County Sheriff's Office declared a Level 1 Snow emergency in Portage County as of late afternoon Dec. 13.

A Level 1 snow emergency means roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously and allow for extra travel time.

This includes reducing speeds, increasing following distances and being alert for changing road conditions.
