NEW YORK (PIX11) – The week starts with sunshine and cold temperatures as a relatively weak system races toward the region from the Midwest, bringing a bit of snow to our region.
While all sections will see snow, a lot of it may have trouble sticking as temperatures around the city and coastal sections will hover at or above the freezing mark. Nonetheless, Tuesday’s morning commute looks to be tricky, and additional time may be needed.

Skies will be sunny for a good portion of Monday. Late in the day, some clouds will start to filter in as the next storm system approaches. Temperatures will be in the upper-30s.
Much of the evening is expected to be dry, but light snow is forecast to develop during the overnight period. Heading into Tuesday morning, temperatures will be hovering around the freezing mark. While inland areas will see a mainly light snow event, coastal sections look to see snow mixing over to rain at times.
The city and coast may see a brief coating or an inch, but much of it will melt as temperatures hover at or above freezing. Inland areas, where the snow will stick, accumulations of as much as 1 to 3 inches will be possible.
The storm will taper off on Tuesday afternoon, and there may be some sun. Highs are expected to be around 39 degrees, but a gusty wind will develop and make it feel colder.

The wind will stick around through at least the morning of Christmas Eve. Otherwise, expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the lower-40s.
Christmas Day will feature partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-40s. A weak frontal boundary may bring a rain shower late; however, much of the day will be dry.
All eyes then turn to Friday. Another potential winter storm may move through our region, bringing snow or rain. Skies should clear out on Saturday, but another storm system looks to move through the region on Sunday. That storm looks to be a rain event for us.
