TODAY: Mostly sunny and breezy. Seasonably Mild. High 45. Northwest winds 5-15mph, gust s up to 30 mph.

CHRISTMAS DAY: Early Morning Light Rain/Snow Shower. Otherwise Mostly Cloudy with Late Day Clearing. Hi 46.

Temperatures overnight kept going up! Some areas are waking up to temperatures near 50° early this morning as we start off a milder day. Most of our Christmas Eve will be mostly sunny and breezy with temperatures peaking in the 40s. We remain dry for any Christmas Eve services as clouds begin to increase Wednesday night.

A quick moving system will brush the area Christmas morning, only to bring a brief rain shower or flurry, then skies will start to clear Thursday afternoon. The clearing skies plays an important role in Friday’s wintry mix. The clearing skies will allow temperatures to fall into the 20s Thursday night into Friday. With clouds developing by Friday morning, I expect temperatures to remain below freezing for much of Friday.

The onset of the wintry mix is planned to arrive Friday afternoon, so Friday morning travel should remain dry ahead of the storm. Here is the future radar Friday morning:

The wintry mix will likely start as snow and sleet Friday afternoon and become steady Friday evening. With temperatures below freezing at the surface, icy conditions may develop throughout Friday evening and Friday night. Here is the future radar Friday evening:

Overall, our region could be in for a combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain. There’s even the chance Saturday morning could start with some freezing drizzle in some areas. Use extra caution at the start of the weekend with travel conditions expected to be impacted by Friday’s wintry mix:
