A York Suburban wrestler sustained an injury during a match at Dover Area High School on Thursday, Dec. 11 and was airlifted for treatment, according to a district spokesperson.

Dover was facing York Suburban High School in the match.

Onsite personnel responded immediately, calling 911 and following established emergency procedures, according to Dustin Boyd, the district’s director of technology. Emergency responders determined the athlete should be airlifted for medical treatment.

The athlete was a member of the visiting team, Boyd said.

A 16-year-old was airlifted at 7:50 p.m., said Ted Czech, public information officer for the York County Office of Emergency Management/York County 911. Audio from York County 911 and flight records show that WellFlight 2-8 medical helicopter landed at Dover Area high school and flew to Hershey Medical Center.

"As the injured individual is not a Dover Area School District student, we do not have updated information regarding their condition at this time," Boyd wrote in an email. "We extend our concern and support to the student, their family, and their school community."
